March 2010

<<<Back to Table of Contents

Dear Readers,
With March already upon us and 2010 moving forward fast, this month’s issue focuses on the inner space of tech, home and interior design as well as the Austin institution of the SXSW Film, Music and Interactive Festival – all while the weather’s still chilly enough to keep us inside and cozy, focused on our computers or couches.

First off and in the spirit of spring and this season of renewal, our Home special features range from tips on slow living (a welcome alternative to our hi-tech age in Between the Covers) to refreshing inspiration for your design ideas on a budget in Refresh Your Nest to green building and design in both Explore Home and Green to blu-ray entertainment in Gadget Girl. We even have ideas on how to create your own private SXSW Showcase at home in Worth.

Topping all things tech this month is cover woman Irene Williams, CEO of 21st Century Technologies, a powerful personality who heads up an Austin-based cyber security and intelligence analytics firm that fights terrorism by serving our nation’s defense and intelligence agencies, among others. You’ll learn how brains and beauty have combined to create an exceptional leader in a field where women were once few and far between, as well as a powerhouse in the arts and Latina communities. We also offer an inside perspective on SXSW Music, Film and Interactive with the help of SXSW veteran and singer/songwriter Sarah Sharp; SXSW Film Conference and Festival Producer Janet Pierson and Press Liaison Rebecca Feferman; as well as tips on what not to miss in social media and more from some of the top cyber chicks in the interactive world in Austin.

Top it all off with the last in our Dental Health series on cosmetic dentistry, a tradition of healthy eating from Mother’s Café in Sustenance, a glass of port in Uncorked, and a review of a new biography of our beloved Molly Ivins and her rebel life.
We hope you’ll Tweet about what you find or post a link to the magazine on Facebook to all your friends...and Happy Spring!
